We value the diversity in our country and encourage women from different political, religious, cultural, class, caste, economic and regional backgrounds to apply.

We are looking for women with demonstrated evidence of public service and a clear intent towards political leadership.

Why come to She Represents?

There is a dearth of strong women role models in Indian politics today. Historically, women have played a crucial role in building movements and bringing forth political and social change across the world, including India.

Research states that women have an equal if not higher probability of winning if given a seat. However,  the truth today is:

India ranks 20th from the bottom in terms of women’s representation in active politics

We currently have 14% women representation in Lok Sabha, 10.5% in Rajya Sabha.

The national average for state assemblies was even lower at 9%, in 2018.

The word politics has become stained in today's world and is dominated by men - we want to change that.

Apply to the program if you are a woman who wants to further your political journey in principled politics.

Contribution

ISD incurs a significant cost to support every participant for this journey.

As a non-profit organisation, we aim to accommodate the varied paying capacities of participants and will raise funds for the deficit.

The cost per participant for She Represents is 35,000 INR. Participant contribution can range from  10,000 INR - 35,000 INR.

Since this form of experiential learning is not yet mainstream, we invite participants to look at it as an investment in your own self. As we learn and grow together, we take care of all those who offer us their gifts while fostering a spirit of care for all in our communities.

Our sincere intention is to make this valuable program accessible to everyone, irrespective of socio-economic status. At the same time, we intend to cover the cost of organising the program and create a nurturing experience for the organising team who puts in their head, heart and hands in creating it.

To bring this to effect, at Indian School of Democracy, we are experimenting with this trust-based model of contribution to holding collaborative, collective and co-owned spaces.

We have limited scholarships, which will be given based on high need and merit. ISD team will engage with the candidates to finalize these.

If you aren’t able to contribute but are interested to join the program, we request you to fill up the application form and express your concerns in the provided space. We believe that finance should not be a roadblock in learning for anyone.

Lifestyle during She Represents

All participants will live together, sharing a frugal lifestyle in a residential campus in Delhi NCR, for the duration of the program. Living quarters will be basic with simple vegetarian meals.

Days will begin at 5:00 AM and end at 10:00 PM. Each day will have rigorous learning and practice along with exposure and reflection spaces. Through these 9 days, the She Represents community will collectively build shared values, community practices and a support system for the journey each participant embarks in the future.

Please read the community norms before applying bit.ly/isdnorms

ISD team will ensure safety in the premises of the campus and arrange necessary guided transport for exposure visits, if any.
