She Represents - शक्ति है, सक्षम भी- Goes online!
ISD presents 7 days of immersive online learning experience for aspiring women public leaders.
Due to the uncertainty created by COVID-19, and our commitment to safety and inclusion for all our participants, we are changing our design of She Represents. We don’t want to miss the opportunity to engage with young women leaders and have created a virtual She Represents, an immersive online learning experience for all women who aspire to be public leaders.
The experience will be cumulatively 7 days long, but divided over 3 phases.
Participating women will have a rigorous learning experience that nurtures the heads, hearts and hands of our future leaders. The goal of She Represents is to build concrete political skills among women who want to join politics or are already on their journey, immerse in the political reality of India, and overcome inner and systemic barriers.
She Represents is essentially a space to join hands and learn with a community of strong, politically motivated women, who have a mission to serve India through politics.
Activation - June 13th, 2 to 6 PM
Immersion - June 17th to 21st, 6 AM to 10 PM (long days, with breaks)
Integration - June 27th & 28th, Full days, exact timings TBD
All sessions will happen online, with exhaustive pre and post prep for participants. Online spaces will include inner work, skill development and community building.

Why apply to She Represents?
There is a dearth of strong women role models in Indian politics today. Historically, women have played a crucial role in building movements and bringing forth political and social change across the world, including India.
Research states that women have an equal if not higher probability of winning if given a seat. However, the truth today is:
India ranks 20th from the bottom in terms of women’s representation in active politics
We currently have 14% women representation in Lok Sabha, 10.5% in Rajya Sabha.
The national average for state assemblies was even lower at 9%, in 2018.
The word politics has become stained in today's world and is dominated by men - we want to change that.
Apply to the program if you are a woman who wants to further your political journey in principled politics.
After the Journey
The engagement process includes two stages:
Stage 1: Application Form Final Deadline: May 3 2020
Stage 2: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a detailed video conversation
ISD incurs a significant cost to support every participant for this journey.
As a non-profit organisation, we aim to accommodate the varied paying capacities of participants and will raise funds for the deficit.
The cost per participant for She Represents online edition is 20,000 INR.
However, we are capping participant contributions at 3000 INR to include varying paying capacities.
We would like to invite you to contribute further after the experience is completed, if you feel it was worth more and you would like to
pay it forward for the next cohort :)
Our sincere intention is to make this valuable program accessible to everyone, irrespective of socio-economic status.
To bring this to effect, at Indian School of Democracy, we are experimenting with this trust-based model of contribution to holding collaborative, collective and co-owned spaces.
Since this form of experiential learning is not yet mainstream, we invite participants to look at it as an investment in your own self. As we learn and grow together, we take care of all those who offer us their gifts while fostering a spirit of care for all in our communities.
If you aren’t able to contribute but are interested to join the program, we request you to fill up the application form and express your concerns in the provided space. We believe that finance should not be a roadblock in learning for anyone.
